EGR bybass 97 6.5

Does anyone know how to bypass the egr valve without getting engine codes? It's a 97 6.5LTD k1500 4wd.

Matt-Max did one and had a few EGR issues but overcame them. they are here in the forum somewhere...

I stuck a dowel rod in the end of the vacuum line for a while, and got no codes. But mine is a '94, I don't know if the '97s get any feed back. I eventually went with a chip from Heath diesel and have been happy.

The dowel trick won't work on any year with a MAF sensor. I've seen a device for use on VW TDIs that plugs inline with the MAF sensor and somehow tricks it. Don't know if it would work on ours or if there is an equivalent device that would.
