i think my 6.5 n/a pump is about to die and was wondering if i could put a 6.2 pump in it temporarily til i can get it rebuilt.i can't afford downtime .can i do this or is the pop pressure of the 6.5 inj's too much for the 6.2 pump.it does have 140,000 on the pump and inj's so they are probably a little weaker anyway.
I am not positive but I thought that the 6.5NA and the 6.2 engines used the same injectors and pumps.
If so, it would be the same thing you have now. (probably)
If the 6.5 NA has a DS4 pump, it is wire-signal only and sends fuel demand signal to the IP thru the computer; the DB2 is straight cable drive from the foot pedal.
Changing from the DS4 to a DB2 can be done, but it is somehwat extrapolated, especially if you have cruise control (which on the DS4 is controlled by the computer directly by fuel signal, and on the DB2 by manipulation of the cable).

well it's on a 92 that had a 6.2 and when it took a dump they only had a new 6.5 to install.it is a cable operated pump.the reciept i got for the job shows, new 6.5,new inj pump, new inj's new waterpump etc.it was done in june of 96.when did they upgrade the pumps with the new style rotor assy, because if it doesn't have it i'm looking at another 700 or so to rebuild the pump.
