whacked

I noticed lately that I don't get the heat that I used to. Drive about 10 miles to work and doesn't get above 160. Every weekend I take it to my cottage and might get to 180. Put my plow on and then it get up to 210 but have to work it pretty hard. I do take my winter front off when I plow think thermostat but thought I would throw it out there and see what you guys thought.

Thanks in advance

Model year? Engine series? Mileage? Could be helpful.

Sorry about that it's an 04, 6.6 duramax, about 80,000 miles. I live in wisconsin and its usually about 15 to 20 degree's out most of the time. Lately its been a little colder.

So here is what I have learned from past experience. First I replace the thermostats and if the heat is still too cool, then I replace the water bypass valve on the waterpipe outlet. The valve is the brass valve screwed into the thermostat water outlet that has a rubber hose attached to it leading to the turbocharger. Hope this helps. :)

Ok in the post above it says thermostats could anybody tell me where they might be located? Maybe a front and back in the same housing?

They are in the cast aluminum coolant outlet housing, side by side under the same cover. Follow your upper radiator hose to the housing, to the upper/front/center of the engine. The cover will have a somewhat "8" shape with the upper radiator hose exiting to the rear.
