I saw a discussion on this awhile ago and never heard anything else. Has anyone added a cruise control assembly on there steering column? I have heard that all the 6.5 trucks 97 and up are already wired for it.

When I purchased my 97, it did not have cruise, it was the stripped model. I took it to a shop in Houston and from his book, he simply installed the OEM GM stalk w/cruise on it on the column and Voila, I had cruise control. Yes it is wired for cruise from the factory, only a diff stalk is required.

By stalk, are you referring to the knob and wire loom with clip?

Yes, this is one part number, cost about $160.00 at your FLAPS (O'Reillys?).

Cool, thanks. I'm gonna get one and give it a try. I'll be riding like a king the next time I make a 1000+ mile trip.

Put in the Cruise Control level tonight. Kind of a pain I had to pull the steering wheel but all in all only took about an hour and fifteen minutes. My truck wasn't originally equipped with it but it is now, and operates like it always had it. Thanks TDP.
