All,
The engine oil cooler lines on the Tahoe are leaking and need replacement. My mech said his sources showed 2 part numbers for both lines, with some minor metric differences all for the same VIN. As well he said they are pricey at $200 plus a set.
Can we make these out of Earl's/Aeroquip?
Anyone know the fitting ends sizing (STD or metric) that I might get some braided lines made up? Obviously if any vendor makes these up please chime in.
Any help appreciated.

Lubrication Specialists (and maybe others) sell a kit with better lines and fittings, plus a new cooler to go along with the new fittings. Highly recommended. Do a search for this and you'll see quite a lot of us talking about the benefits as it's been available for quite some time now with excellent reliability.

The aeroquip line (or similar) and JIC fittings is the only way to fly.

The factory stuff uses the aluminum line ends which crimp onto the hose.
The aluminum being soft allows the crimps to loosen over time as the duty cycles of heat and cold work on the hose.

Sooner or later they leak.

The fittings are a PITA and if the E rings decides to let go, Its game over if you dont happen to see the oil pressure go away.

I am going to use an aftermarket oil cooler and lines on the 91 Burb that I am swapping a 6.2 into.

The original lines from the donor truck are pretty tacky looking and I just don't need any troubles.

Good luck

fittings at the blockside are 3/8 or 1/2" pipe tread depending on year.

I made my own lines with 1/2" hydr fittings, hydr steel tubing and hydr hose, and used hydr crimp fittings to hook in to the original aluminum tubing at the cooler side.
altough they will never leak again, this procedure was time consuming to get it right,[you will need a 1/2" tube bender] and i wont do it again this way.My cost was still $100 for materials used.

I did a search and found Lubrication Specialists mentioned in the threads, however their website is shutdown. Anyone know if they are still around at a different web address or do I need to look for another vendor.

Can anyone recommend another vendor?

I suppose I can buy an off the shelf kit w/NPT fittings and make it happen. I'd prefer Aeroquip or Earl's or something with braided stainless however.
Thanks

Greg's site is usually up and running. Either it's undergoing maintenance, or he doesn't know about it. I dunno. He is a TDP supporter.

Does anyone know the line lengths: pressure and return. I may have to get some Aeroquip lines made up as I've developed a significant leaker.

Thanks

Not off hand, the main issue you'll run into is the connector you'll need at the physical cooler itself, which is not a standard (or readily available) fitting.

This is the sole reason why both the DSG and LS line systems come with a standard cooler, that's dimensionally the same as the OEM (the DSG is much larger though).

P.S. a 1997 6.5TD should have 1/2" NPT thread on the block.

See post 20, and the line lengths for me were as follows 44.5 and 39.5 I cannot recall which was which though, I used field connectable fittings. If you search my name on the 'place' you'll find pics that I posted of the stock cooler using these adapters
