crank position sensor

Is there any reason that a crank position sensor would act up once in awhile. This is the second time in about a year. The mechanic said the sensor had reset and was working properly when he got it. We reset the code and we will see. Is it time to just change it or look for something else.

mine did the same thing about 5000 miles after i bought it. I would reset the code and sometimes it would come on ten minutes later or sometimes it would stay off for a couple of weeks. Every time it came on I would reset it and after probably about 15 times it hasnt thrown any codes and is acting like nothing is wrong.
