17" & 18" tires and rims

Hello all. Long time reader, first time posting. I have a stock 2007 classic CC 4x4 D/A SB. I have the stock rims and tires as of now and wish to replace them sooner or later. The height is stock and has not been altered. I wanted to level off the back with 2" shackles. I was wondering if I do this what tires and rims combo would fit. I like the 16" rims now but I wanted something that would fill the wheel wells a bit more. If anyone has any info as to what 17" or 18" rims/tires combos would work (if any) it would greatly be appreciated. The truck is just my to and from work truck. I would never use it off road other than going to the beach. It also will be used to tow a 5th wheel travel trailer (when we get one). Probably no more than 10K weight. Thanks

nothing is going to fill those wheel wells..
but i have 17" hummer wheels and lt285/70r17 on mine...with no adjustments.

I agree about filling the wheel wells. Was just looking for something that would look a little more truck like. How much did the bigger rims affect your mileage?

none..i get 16-17 mpg, mine is a work truck with a ladder rack and a heavy load of freon.

I think I am down to a 17" rim and a LT265/70/16 combo. The 18" tires are very pricey. I recently purchased the truck with 12K miles so it's pretty new to me. On the long ride home at speed of 65 to 75 I stopped to fill up since it was below 1/2 and I seen a decent price of diesel. I hand calculated the mileage at 20.5 even though the DIC showed I think 17. I just figured there was no way this calculation was correct. When I got back in the truck and took off I looked at the gauge and it showed a little over 3/4 so I just assumed I did not fill the tank completely. As I drove a little ways the gauge eventually showed it full. I figured out later if you fill the truck while it is still running the gauge takes a few to catch up. A recent trip to Houston could not duplicate that mileage as it was about 18.5 to 19. Its harder now to calculate since I installed a transferflow fuel/tool box. I also noted it has been a bit sluggish. I think I will change the fuel filter soon. I think it may still have the original factory one on.
