Can an Allison be put into a '95 Suburban? Has it been done? Or can a new GM 6L80 be put in? Any information on these subjects:rolleyes: would be helpful!
Thank You,
Matt

Yes, an Allison can be installed behind a 6.5. In fact, the Allison 1000 5-speed auto was first tested behind a 300-hp 6.5L diesel by GM Powertrain, before the first examples of the Duramax 6600 became available for prototype testing. The bellhousing and torque converter bolt patterns are identical to those used by the 6.5/4L80-E.
Until recently, getting a standalone TCM (Transmission Control Module) has been the big hangup, but a company called “Destroked”, recently began selling a package primarily designed to allow using the Allison behind a Dodge Cummins. This means they also produce a TCM, and their controller would also allow the Allison to be used behind a 6.5. Contact them at (303) 945-7570 or visit them online at: www.destroked.com (http://www.destroked.com/).
