Intermittant hard start

Gidday,

Went out to start my truck yesterday, turned it over for about
15 seconds (it usually starts 5 seconds in) no go.
Cycled the glow plugs
and when it finally started there was a bunch of black smoke
and it shot the rpm's up to around 3800 then stopped.
Tried it again and all was normal.
It has done this twice since.

Any ideas?

I'd check for stored DTC codes, but it sounds like either the fuel solenoid is sticking or the FSD is flakey.
