yes I am sure people would love for this to happen often, but it's been in the 40s here and I am looking at the engine temp and it is barely getting above 100 (110 maybe?).

Since it is only in the 40s, that means the engine should be running good, but I need heat. I am getting only lukewarm air with the temp only just above 100.

How to get more heat?

Winter front to cover the grill?

It's probably time to replace the thermostat. Sounds like it's stuck open.

I wouldn't suggest using a winter grill cover for only 40°F. Maybe if it stays below 20° for a long period, but you should never need one above that. Most folks recommend it for 10° - 0°F, and below.

Could also be timing related. If the timing is too retarded, the engine will not build as much heat until worked hard. Or, a combination of a tired stat and timing.
