View Full Version : Check engine light on (po404)

My check engine light came on the other day and then suddenly went off after a day of driving it this way.I scanned for codes and it came up as po404 exhaust gas recirculating circuit.I cleared the light but it came back on after driving for about 10 min.I cleared the light again last night but it has yet to come on again.Has anyone else experienced this or can you tell me where to start looking for the problem?Thanks

I had the same problem with my 2007 6.6. The EGR valve had to be cleaned. Solved the problem. Depending on the year and milage it may be covered, mine was @ 66k.

Sounds like you got a CA or NE emissions truck. The LB7 EGR systems are pretty basic/archaic. Federal trucks do not have these systems and are much simpler to deal with.

Is that Nebraska or New England your talking about?
I thought only the California LB7 had EGR...

The light hasn't came back on after about 200 miles and driving for a week, should I be concerned?Where is the EGR valve located anyhow?
