Replacing Starter ? 2002 2500 ext Chevrolet

Do I need to drop the exhaust to get the starter out ? I have the starter off but can"t get it out .

Any help is greatly appreciated

It's a tight fit, but should not be too difficult to get it out once it's rotated. The exhaust shouldn't be a problem, unless you have an aftermarket system.

Try removing the wires from the starter motor to give yourself a little more wiggle room. ;)

Just wanted to say thanks I got it off and the new one on but I did have to remove the solenoid from the starter to remove but I always have to do everything the hard way .thanks for the quick replies
