2 questions here pertaining to my 92 with the 6.5 n/a.1st when did they start using the new style head and rotor assy in the pumps.and 2nd has anybody ever put a 6.2 pump in a 6.5.the reason for these questions is my truck had a new engine installed in late 96 with new pump and inj's.and it now has 140,000 on it and it's been slowly getting worse and i think it's gonna take a s#*t on me anyday now,and i can't afford down time with this and i have a half dozen 6.2 pumps i could put in til i get the 6.5 pump rebuilt.would the 6.2 overcome the higher pop pressure of the 6.5 inj's??or would i have to use 6.2 inj's?and if my pump doesn't have the new style head and rotor i'm looking at another 700.00 on the rebuild!

You got the revised pump. They should be able to look at the '96 date cast into the housing and tell that.

At 140k, I'd say a new timing chain and gears would restore your confidence (and the correct inj timing), and probably new injectors would put the zing back into it.
