My Kodiak mirrors (power, heat, integral turn signals) have had a paint peeling issue on the large stalks supporting the mirror assembly since I have owned the truck, and now look pretty bad with ~40% of the crinkle-black finish peeling or gone.
The passenger mirror has been banged into twice, the first time broke the turn signal, the second time cracked the top, large mirror. Won't pass DOT inspection, very unsafe in its present condition.
Found a pair of fresh power mirrors on the internet for about 1/3 the price of OEM replacement - but they don't have heat. I have never had heated mirrors before, but have to say that they really work and keep critical rearword vision clearer as we keep working through the winters up here.
Question: Can the heater elements be moved from the original mirrors to the new mirrors? I am envisioning something that glues to the back of the mirror glass. Is this how it works?
