Gauges (Again)

Hi All! smile.gif I know the gauge subject has been hashed out several times, and I have read all that I could find using the search function. After reading everything I could find and looking at the nice pretty ISSPRO catalog I got in the mail today, I have pretty much decided on the setup at this Link:

Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreaciated before I spend $$$. Some think I only need Boost & EGT.

Bill - If you do any towing - or loading the truck - the tranny Temp gauge would be a "nice' addition. Otherwise, looks good to be, BWDIK smile.gif

Edit - I notice the Boost goes to 30# - since you're probably not going to hop it up too much - you might want to see if you could get a 15# gauge - give easier readings in your actual operating range.

Edit #2 - Also - I personally prefer a 270

Thanks MTTwister, gives me more to think about, looked for "Gomer's Diesel" but could not find, do you have link? After I load it up my camper will be about 4500lbs give or take a few 100lbs :D

W/the mods I eventually did, I wish my boost gauge went to 30lbs. Sometimes mine touches 15lbs for second and pulling a load it will run 12-14lbs on uphills pulling 7500lbs.

Bill, I agree with MTTwister, a tranny gauge is nice to have if you do a lot of traveling with that camper. :D They get hotter than you think. :(
You may even find you will want an additional cooler on it.

Might Help keep the TCC from slipping, and generating additional heat. 'course, you're pretty much a flat-lander down there. smile.gif

Thanks, most of my travels will take me out of the "flat lands" :( and out to the land of mountains, "Sierra Nevada Mountains", that is smile.gif smile.gif Any suggestions on how to mount the tranny temp gauge other than pulling the pan :D

I went with the VDO Vision series setup, but got the 15 psi boost gauge. I've been running them for 4 years now with no problems. The are very sharp and clear, and so far the closest match to factory colors day or night. Vision series replaced the VDO Cockpit with backlit faces and really look sharp. I paid about $125 for the pyro, and around $30 each for boost and temp.

There's a Test Port on the drivers side of the tranny, just above where the linkage bolts on. Actually even same thread size! no drips, no runs, no errors.

Bill I found my $ for ISSPRO gauges - It's the extra's you need to make them work that runs into $$$ -

Trans gauge..... 79.52
Man Press....... 44.27
Hose Kit 10'.... 10.13
Pyrometer 1500.. 92.90
Thermo coupler.. 44.50
8'lead wire-Hi temp...11.91
total ...........283.23

and - 3 gauge pillar pod..63.87

But I'm happy with them, that's what counts.
