Oil Recommendations

Just picked up a '94 Tahoe powered with a 6.5 that has 80,000 original miles. I'm new to the world of 6.5s, and wondered what these beasts seem to prefer, and what everyone is having the best luck with. Recommendations? Thanks!

Welcome aboard!

Keep it simple. Any 15w-40, API CH-4 or higher/later oil will be fine. Brand preferences are personal choice. Delo, Rotella, Mobil Delvac are all high quality. Some are better than others, but vary from vehicle to vehicle and personal preference. There are also several synthetic brands that are very good, with some added benefit if you keep the vehicle for a long time, or are particularly hard on it (heavy towing, long service intervals, high climate temps, very low climate temps).
