I'm obsessed with trying to get the longest life span (most miles)out of my diesel.I'm a contractor so I do a lot of hauling ,towing etc. What is the highest miles anyone has gotten or seen out of the 6.5 trucks, and what have they done to acheive this sucess. With the exception of a (warranteed inj. pump) mine has been trouble free for the last 40,000 miles.I ask because I dont see alot with over 250,000,and i've gotten that out of a 305 for christ's sake. This is a much better truck though.I have seen some guy's that claim 400,000 in here though. That would be fantastic.

As of today I have 299,867 km on the clock. This thing drives like it has 50,000 and I am very happy overall. Only repairs to engine have been the standard maint. items, one IP and relocated FSD. Other than that, I spend money on the fun stuff, like exhaust and turbomaster. When this thing finally goes, I will rebuild and go at it again. With the cost of new DI diesels, you have to work it pretty hard to get the value that a 6.5td will easily give you. smile.gif

Right now, I am 195,200 miles with virtually no hiccups. I went through a few oil senders last year, but I've never had to have the engine worked on yet in 12 years.
From what I've seen on this board from other owners, I think I still have quite a few miles left in the old fella....

Just over 230,000 miles and I expect to get 300,000+ miles from my 6.5 if the truck doesn't die a slow cancerous death first.
I bought my '96 6.5 Suburban about a year ago from a seller in Canada. At that time it had 454,000 kilometers on it (282,000). I know have just over 300,000 on it, but the odometer shows only 105,000 -- I had the speedometer and odometer changed from metric to standard, so it went from 282,000 to 87,000. Truck runs like a champ, with the exception of FSD problems. I anticipate that it will go quite a ways more, I think 400,000 will not be much of a problem. I don't know if it is due to Canadian snow removal or what, but my truck is completely rust free, which is very nice.
My 94 will turn 500,000 km this week, The body is in great shape so I'm hopeing to keep it going for another 200k or so.
My 95 has 253,000 and still going strong.
Love My Burb
My problem is oversized tires eat the front end alive, 33,12.50,16.5

well i am at 249,000 kms now(155,000m) and it runs solid. i plan on keeping it as long as i can. body is great. lots of them around here have 400,000 + so will see.
plus it costs me a little over $0.10 per km to drive and i know that i will never see that from a gas truck.

I am at 377,000km aside from the motor at 145,000km , injectors at 178000, and warranty IP at 182000km my truck is now going strong with the help of all you guys on the page; and I intend to keep it that way. I don't really count the everyday wear and tear items, that list would be endless dur to getting it back in primo shape compared to when I bought it.
My 95 GMC 2500 SLE had 391,232 miles when I bought it. The engine had been replaced at about 170K and the transmission at about 190K. Original owner pulled a 12,000 pound trailer on the highways around Oklahoma, throttle on the floor and locked out of overdrive. I am the second owner.
Now over 422K and going strong. Transmission just rebuilt in the last 2,000 miles, replaced rods, mains, and oil pump at 402,000 miles. Just rebuilt the front suspension, replaced original A frame bushings and original ball joints.
Truck looks good, drives good and gets just over 16 mpg around town and near 20 on the highway. I am patching some rock chips in the paint on the hood though, minor cosmetic stuff. I pull a 20 foot fifth wheel each summer, last summer went over 4,000 miles. Mileage suffers when the fifth wheel is behind it.
Sorry for the typo, make that a 29 foot fifth wheel.
265,000 miles on my 1995 6.5. rebuilt tranny, 2 injector pumps. turbo master and max e-tork chip.
runs like a scalded dog.

Two 1994 3500 flatbeds. One has 130K and is going strong, warranty IP/FSD and Turbomaster due to vaccuum pump failure.
The other broke a crankshaft at 123K and is currently getting a used '97 longblock.

Thanks for the replys.Very good to see the high miles you guy's have gotten,I hope to do the same.I hear so much negativity about GM diesels,(mostly from ford or dodge guy's)makes me want to prove 'em wrong. Also makes me not afraid to go past the 120,000 mile warranty on the pump,(currently at 115,000).Runs like a top.

My '93 made it to 337,800 before we blew a head gasket. That was the first repair I ever had on it besides rebuilding the starter and alternator.
Follow a rigid regular maintenance schedule and keep the coolant and exhaust temps in check and a 6.5 will treat you right!! smile.gif
We've pulled a 4 horse gooseneck with living quarters for 200,000+ of those miles as well as moving mobile homes and hauling hay on a 40' float.
Currently in the middle of a rebuild since we were in the middle of her anyway!
