View Full Version : ceramic coating precups
taking my pistons in for coating in the next couple days. figured i should get the precups done as well, to prevent cracking. any advice on this? coat inside, valve side, or both sides?
Leave the precups as they are.
The heat in the cups needs to be transfered to the head.
The ceramic coating on the piston top is there to prevent erosion of the crown as well as to reflect excess heat away.
To some up, ceramic coating the pistons is a good thing, doing it to the precups is not.
The precups dont always crack and as long as the cracks do not cross the gasket fire ring area all is fine.
Have fun
