Fuel gauge not working

I have a 2005 gmc sierra duramax 3500 with dual fuel tanks and the gauge is working intermittenly and today and broke down on the side of the road because no the bank tank is not pumping the front tank with any fuel. I am guessing it is the sending unit. Any help will be really appreciated

A Tech II scan tool can be used to sense fuel tank level that the vehicle ECM is seeing. This can help to eliminate the dash fuel gauge as a cause of a problem. Otherwise, the dual tank systems are more problematic than the singles.... Shouldn't be too hard to figure out with a Tech II.
