any one have any experiance with what seems to be very sensitive throttle response. cannot hold speed or rpm over about 1800 rpm. engine hunts really bad if I use cruise control, getting worse as speed increases. truck is '95 6.5lt, 278k miles, injection pump was replaced under warranty at 101k miles. fuel and air filters new, pump driver about 2 yrs old, aftermarket model not GM.?

If you have no throttle range it could point to an IP going south....

Would a speed sensor or throttle sensor cause the problem?

My truck had some wierd "missing" at about 2700-3200 rpm both in neutral and on the highway. One of the things I checked was an accelorator pedal position sensor with a procedure in my Chilton's manual. It has you put a multimeter in the circuit and watch for a steady smooth voltage rise as you run the pedal to the floor engine off of course. I think it had you put the leads in by the computer, but I can't remember, the book is clear. Hope this may help.
