the other day i bought a long block off a guy he states that it ran fine when pulled but the only problem he had with it was when it was hot it was alittle hard to start, what should i change out and check, im doing this as cheap as possible

Sounds like the starter was dragging (no good crank speed), injection pump head/rotor bad, or poor compression.
I'd bet on the first two, probably just the first.
Starting good cold is a good indication of good compression.
Well now :confused:
With the amount of work involved in changing engines I would be hesitant to install a used engine that I knew little about without looking inside.
6.2's have not been in production for some years now so possibly droping the pan and having a look at the bearings, timing chain and such would be a great idea.
A fresh rear main seal would be cool too.
Yank the heads and have a look topside too.
Gaskets are not all that spendy and you can check the heads over for anything sinister.
The head bolt kits are fairly reasonable too. Replace the rocker guide buttons as a matter of fact.
Just a little poking around may save you a lot of work later.
Since the engine is out now it can be worked on very easy once on a stand.
