I have told this story a lot on here. My truck has 208000 miles. Started and ran perfect all winter. First hint of warm weather and it won't start. Put on new pump and purged all the way to the water valve until fuel puked on the driveway. Primed with wd40 and it fired up and died then wouldn't start. Next morning it fired right up and worked fine for 120 miles. Then start was a little longer on the way home and now no start. Won't fire on wd40 but tries. No codes no smoke no nothing. Just spinning like crazy. Glow plugs dim cab lights until it cycles off like always. So, I'm ready to give up and haul it to a shop or salvage unless someone can give me a tip. I thought adding lubricity additive was the answer but must have been coincidental. Could the pump just be shot and can't pop the injectors? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a failed PMD. Mine worked in a similar fashion before it quit. Somedays it worked well, some it didn't, till finally it wouldn't work at all.

There is a relay in the fuel pump circuit that powers the pump until the oil pressure comes up with the engine running. The relay could be the problem.

The relay is only activated when the ignition switch is in the start/crank position. You will find the relay in the junction box under the hood.

Don't haul it to salvage. I'll buy it.
