The loser was a Chevy.

Speaking of diesel performance. How about the 8-second dragster? Uses a 5.9 Cummings diesel. It was written up a few months back in National Dragster. I think the article say 800 HP. Don't remember the torque numbers. Don't see how a straight 6 diesel engine is going to be able to spin that high. I also don't remember the type of transmission used.
