How do I determine the amp rating of my alternator? I'm thinking of relocating the passenger side battery in order to make room for a new airbox so I will need to determine cable thickness for the new run of cable.
Thanks.

I suspect you have the standard 105 amp alternator. A 140 amp alt is available.

Can you determine with 100% certainty that it's a 140 amp. alternator if the truck came with RPO code Z82 (trailer provisions special equipment, heavy duty)?

A 140 amp. alternator will bolt right up. Unless your putting the second battery in the bed I would use the same size cable as you've got now. The crimp connection is the most critical.
One last thing make sure the pulley is correct because it drives the tach. If your not sure than swap it out with the old one.

Can I use the stock alternator from a 1998 application on a 1994 mounting bracket?

Go to www.napaonline.com (http://www.napaonline.com) enter your truck and see what they have. ;)
For my 97 they have 100A - 155A for sale.
