For thoose who have replaced the GM10.5 Ring and Pinion Rear gear set.

Best gear set out there? Precision,Motive,Yukon,etc..
Special tools required, other then Dial gauges etc?
Crush bearing or not in this model?
What with the 4.10 vs a 4.11 - am I missing something or is there a preferd advantage?

Looking to change mine from 4.56 thick set to a 4.11. (original was 4.11 - but it blew up) I have seen alot of manufacturers out there and was wondering if any one has had any experience good or bad with them. Additionally anything to look out for.

I have replaced several gears in the past but not on this Truck. I hate having to stop in the middle of a project only to find out that I needed something I did not have.

I recently spoke to the folks at Randy's Ring & Pinion (Yukon Gear)(www.ringpinion.com (http://www.ringpinion.com)) concerning the cost for parts and labor to swap gears. Randy's is currently shipping a ring & pinion set for a GM 10.5" free-floating rear differential for approximately $280 and the installation kit (bearings, shims & seals) costs approximately $198. They also sell a book that covers replacement. I have that book. Highly recommended! :)
