View Full Version : Rear view mirror temperature display bad after power washing
I was washing my truck at the washer today with a power washer and I must of hit the temperature sensor b/c ever since then the it's only read 55 on the rear view mirror even though it's been about 66 or 68 degrees. I've done a search but can't find a post on how to reset it so it reads accurately? Did I "fry" it with the water? I'm assuming this is what happened. Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance as always.

It should be accurate again once it's dry. If you don't drive it much after soaking it, it will take a while. Warmer temps make it happen quicker. Mine does this after every car wash.
I doubt you damaged it, but they don't cost much if you did.

I think will assist you for calibration or resetting. Maybe you can click around to find additional info.

You should never use a pressure washer to clean your vehicle. You can hit the spots where water infiltration would not matter, but key areas, like under the hood, should not receive a high pressure shot.
The prob. should clear up after it dries out.
Once again I've managed to post in the wrong forum. Eventually I'll get it right.
Thanks for the help. A few hours later it was reading the correct temp.

What happens is quite simple. A droplet of water resides in the port of the temp sensor cutting it off from outside air. Once the water drips out, or evaporates it's fine.
