Personally, I've convert the engine electricals to 12v... ;)

Yes yes
Use the standard accessories for the Civy 6.2 and either you replace the fuel solenoid and the cold advance solenoid in the IP with 12V stuff or have it done.
No need to fool with a dual voltage setup

as you see I have a mess of wiring!! not sure what to do with the computer and electronic 4l80e, the starter does say 24V the alt is 24v, I'm guessing that the rest of the electronics are 24V????

As stated, there are only a few componets that are actually 24v, replace them with 12v. The starter is 24v, just put in a 12V.
The 4L80E will be 12v, the alternator on the military 6.5's is actually a dual voltage setup with a low amperage 12v side just for that.
There is no good reason to keep the 24V junk, sell it on Ebay and you can likely pay for all the 12V stuff you need.
That is not a standard military HMMWV alternator on there. Do you know what application this engine came from?

It came from a company that fabricates "concept vehicle platforms" and AMG is on of their contracts, so there is some stuff on it that is custom fabricated. If you notice in the pic the computer box and connectors are I believe military specific I.E. not the type found on civilian hmmwv's, so I assumed that everything is 24v even the computer?
But beside the starter and fuel soleniod every thing else is 12v?? if thats the case the I will change it over to 12v!!!

Is it an engine computer of transmission ECM? The military transmission ECM's were 12v, and no military 6.5's have computers so if this does it is definitly non-standard. That box on the left in your first pic looks like the standard military ECM box for the transmission. Same basic deal as on a civilian truck, just ruggedized.
On the engine itself, aside from the starter and fuel solenoid there is not much else that is voltage dependant.
I have the AMG training guides for the 4L80E as they use it (as well as the rest of them for the engine, IP etc) so if you need any specific data I will see if I can find it.

Do you think that center mount turbo will fit in a 75 Jimmy? I think your fan would be past the grill!

trans wired but the two small plugs are the same and can go either way. does it make a difference which is plugged into which?

Ok, that engine wiring harness is NOT military.
I am starting to think this is really just a civilian engine with a 24 starter tossed on.
Does it have a DB2 or DS4 IP? I can't tell but that looks like DS4 wiring and if that first plug is indeed for the accelerator pedal that cinches it.. The military never purchased any DS4's or computer controlled engines for HMMWV's....
The transmission harness may be military. Those two plugs on it do matter what sensor they go to, but if you got it wrong you can swap them pretty easy

I think this is the block that is prone the #8 cylinder crack.
well if it is a van diesel then they did a good job integrating the olive drab twist and lock connectors!!
I just need to some how figure out what the instrument panel wires go to. since most of the gauges are missing in the panel they gave me!!

Unless I miss my guess, what you've got there is a stock GM PCM and VSSB in a battle hardened box. Looks like it's sittng on a motorcycle oil filter...
