On my recent trip to the Keys, my EGT's hovered around 850 degrees (measured in the downpipe) all the time. Is this within the design spec's of the engine? I don't want to spend the money on an intercooler since I tow only 4-5 times per year, and am happy with the power I am currently getting.

Is this while towing? In the downpipe 900 is considered redline, so if your at 850, you would want it to run cooler. If towing, all the time seeing 850 that isn't good either, because you don't have much of a safety range.

With my Isspro gauges, 850 is just entering caution zone. 1050 is danger zone, measured post turbo.

Sounds good under a load.
How was the water temps?
What boost level did you have?
What was your max EX Temps?
Down pipe,1050 is all right for short......
Post Turbo,1200 max.
On most grades I'll pull 1100 to the top, 14psi boost. IAT 140*, Air temp 85*, Water on, Eng temp 205, no fan engaged. :D
Though my CGVWR is 16k ;)

I never let the EGT's get above 900. My water temps were to the left of center. Boost varried according to grade, but under heavy load I tried not to let it get much above 12, although it did peak at 15 for short periods. Truck has almost 160,000 miles on it now, and runs great! I just don't want it to fail before 300,000 miles, my goal for this engine.
