Jay - did you use a greasecar or other kit or come up with your own system? Any pics/diagrams of your wvo plumbing/wiring?
Randy
how long have you had that kit? What is you filtering process? I am trying to decide between that kit or brewing it in my garage.... any advice?
It was installed October 2005. I have 50,000 miles on grease. Recently the diesel fuel system crapped (231,000 miles) I was assured the WVO had nothing to do with the failure. It was just worn out.
Since then I haven't been able to run on VO because the mechanic messed with the system and I can't figure how to unscrew it. Trying to find a 6.5 einstein to help me straighten it out.
I run a 4 drum refinery in the garage using heat, time and settling. Final filtering is to 5 microns.

wish I could help you there, I decided last night that I am going to order the greasecar kit. Do you have that electronic monitor they sell with it for the extra 300?
also, how are you monitoring your oil temp and knowing when to swtich?
I have the original generation of the computer system. When it worked, it was really simple. Now that the monitor has crapped out, it isn't as nice. I plan on converting it to the manual switch.
Because the computer monitor is non-functioning I use the idiot gauge on the dashboard to monitor the vebetable oil temperature. When the enginine cooolant temp finally settles in the position indicating that the thermostat is constantly open, I switch it to Veg oil. Seems to work just fine.
The new manual system has a temp guage with prob to monitior VO temps.

Thanks for the info! So would you recommend shelling out the $300 for the new generation of the computer or just using the standard feature? I think I am going to order my kit this week.
Have settled on the manual switching system. I also got rid of the extra lift pump and have run it for over a year without it. Currently, I am sitting at over 80,000 miles on WVO. Still using the same Greasecar system. Working on finding time to convert my 2000 F250 and a retired International 7.3L U-Haul box truck.
While I have made One 1-liter batch of biodiesel, I still haven't convinced myself that spending another $/gallon is worth the cost to process BD for my own use.

Now have 81 thousand miles on WVO, switched it manual instead of the computer and it still runs great. Current mileage is just over 271 thousand.
Still love my Greasecar kit!
