I have been a long time observer. I finally picked up a cherry 99 Suburban with 96K with one owner. I have about 2K to sink into engine mods but am confused on a few things. Here is what I am doing....
PDM heat sink
4" stainless exhaust with down pipe
High performance injectors
Westers tune
Now I am around $1200.00 I have $800 more to work with.
Any sugestions would be appreciated!!!!

Maybe some gages so that 2 grand isn't wasted......

I suggest an air intake, I have the aFe Stage 2 and am very happy with it.
Investigate boost control. Either turbo master or Kennedy boost fooler. But only after gauges mentioned above. Stock boost level won't be enough with more fuel and you'd be missing some performance of new bigger exhaust.
Make sure you fully understand boost limitations, IAT, compression ratio, EGT, and coolant temperature limits first.
Put the rest of the money in the bank until you know what you have and what you might want to do. Might have some more general maintenance to do timing chain, harmonic balancer / front pulley, Serp belt, brakes, possible lift pump etc etc (it is used and a ?). Filters and fluids etc too.
Can't say enough about the gauges.
