Trying to get more MPG

Just a general question on getting more MPG out of a stock LB7. I have a 2001 GMC and was wondering if anyone has tried or compared the name brand performance enhancers, like the edge to the ECM reprogram by Kenndedy Diesel or DURAMILEAGE. Thanks for your input. My primary goal is getting into the 20 + MPG, not towing performance.

i found driving habits helped raise my mpg.
also, increased tire pressure. air filter at 10k

just bought a bully dog pup programer , have it set on 1st level. will see if any improvement s next week mpg wise. so far like the almost instant boost......
