View Full Version : Bad IP pump ?
Well, I'm trying to bring back to life an ex-military M1009 (aka K5 ). The guy ibought it from said the IP pump was and included a new one with the truck. Today I diconnected one of the injector lines and had my son crank it over, very little fuel came out, just kind of dribbled out. Does this indeed mean the IP is bad ? If so can I replace it myself and besides intake gaskets what else will I need ?
Thanks
Mark

Normally, not a lot of fuel weeps out when an injector fuel line is loosened.
Does it run with the existing IP?
Jim
At present time it does not run. I installed a small elect pump in series with the stock lift pump and have plenty of pressure going to the IP. All glow plugs are working also. When I pulled an injector line off and cracked the motor over fuel only dribbled out of the line. I would have thought I should see a little more. I also tried to fire it off on WD-40 and got nothing ?
Thanks

Do you have power to the pink wire on the IP?
Without the power there might be some some fuel out of the linesbut not enough to run on.
Peter
Yes, the pink wire has power. I can disconnect / reconnect and I hear a clicking noise each time.
