83 alternator problem

I have a 83 Suburban that runs fine but keeps wearing out the alternator belt within two weeks and will not stay charged. I would like to switch to a serpentine belt but is there anything else I can do to fix this problem? If you know where I can get a serpentine belt kit for it that would be great.

sounds like you have a bent pully, or bracket, are you sure its the alt though, could be some other one.
From what I have read here get the accessories and belt from a newer one with the serpentine and it should work.

Your choice of belt also matters, I prefer the Dayco belts, these are the OEM brand BTW.
