...but I stopped and test drove a 2004 Duramax (GMC) today. It was on a used lot, 10K miles, supposedly was a dealer's ride that came through the auction. (I have to wonder why they didn't sell it retail, with the strong demand for these trucks???).

Anyway, I noticed that there was significantly less tread on the rears than the fronts, and after driving it, I know why. WOW!!! I have serious acceleration envy, even with my modified 6.5. Can't imagine what a 'tire-fryer' a turned up Duramax must be!

I was like a recovering addict on a trip to Amsterdam. Had to get out of there, before I was signing on the dotted line for a truck ($36K)that cost more than all of my other trucks combined.

Mark,

Go home, have a cold beer. Look at the checkbook for awhile. Any kids? How about 36K per year for college? Wash the old truck - they always run like new when they're clean. Sober up and keep the 6.5. They really are good trucks.

Aw what the hell, go buy it. Life is short.

College costs are looming. Four kids at home (ages 16, 14, 13 and 10) with three kids (24, 23, 21) already out of the nest, one graduated from the U of M. Kind of a Brady Bunch type of affair - youngest two are my genes and others are stepkids from two marriages.

Conclusion? I'll wash the trucks tomorrow. And have a beer.

Holy Chit MARK - "Four kids at home (ages 16, 14, 13 and 10) with three kids (24, 23, 21) already out of the nest..."
I put One thru college (just graduated) , and I'm barely starting to recover!

Best of Luck - hmm hang onto the trucks, and get the kids to wash it for ya!
