I have a stalling problem with my suburban. Only stalls hot. after it stalls, You try to restart and the thing tries to go but pumps out black smoke and acts like the timing is off as it tries to start. The problem is not the pmd. I tested with a known good one. it will run normally after is sits about 1 hour. then it will drive again for about 5 minutes. The things I know are not the problem: lift pump/air in fuel, fuel quality/ops switch. I think the problem is the pump timing. but you need to have the tech1 or 2 tool to dial that in (the pump was recently removed). no check engine light.
I hauled it to the dealer so they could hook up their tool. I'm afraid they will come back and say it needs a new injection pump when all it might need is the optical sensor. or somthing simple.
Any suggestions?

Vwery well could be an optical sensor.
Be sure of a good supply of fuel at about 5 PSI at the IP (Lift pump)

If the Lift pump is ok then the IP is suspect.

Assuming you have tried a different PMD
