I am getting some leaky filter housing hoses, and really just want to use this opportunity to move it to a better location. The rear valley area is just a pain to reach for filter changes.

What have you used to move it to the fender wall or maybe a frame rail?

I also hate the filter bottom bleed run-off valve at the front of the engine which is poorly designed. I just changed my t-stat this weekend, and the hose was so short that it wouldn't allow me to remove it after removing the nut that holds it on. That shared stud-post is awful.

thanks guys. I had a major life challenge last July, had to sell my house in one week and move out within 3 weeks. Moved way out to the country with a 150-mile round-trip daily commute, and am just now getting back online for recreational internet use. Glad to see you guys haven't skipped a beat.

There are many different aftermarket fuel filter possibilities. Racor produces a secondary fuel filter kit for the Duramax that could be easily adapted to the 6.5, as well as a variety of other universal components that could be adapated. Lubrication Specialist, Kennedy Diesel, and others also produce universal kits for the Duramax that could also be adapted.

GM put the factory fuel filter in the engine valley to help prevent fuel gelling, and to produce a clean installation.
