I'd like input on which thermostats temp ratings people are using in their 6.5td and operating in tropic, sub-tropic and desert environments.

I know JK offers a modified to his spec cooling fan clutch which is great for such environments which I think is a great idea.

I have read mixed reviews on thermostats between the H1 and GM/CHEV truck some like the 190deg, others like the 180deg while I've even read the one 180deg and one 190deg is a good idea too.

Any thoughts?

My vote is 190's. I live in Phoenix, AZ and have no problems with temp. It will climb to 205 and hold steady if pulling up the 17 towards Flagstaff with a load. I have the 97+ cooling mods but not the modified clutch fan Yet.

As the radiator heats up its capacity to shed heat increases. The thermostat only sets the bottom limit on temparature. As the heat load, or the themperature of the surrounding air, increases, the water temp will climb until the radiator can shed the heat being put off by the engine.

Stick with 190's!
