Noise finally went away

Just thought I'd share this with you guys...

My '94 K2500 (350,000 kms) has made loud 'dieseling' noises since I bought it three months ago....this afternoon I finally found the issue.
The noise sounded like the injection timing was way too advanced.
Today I found a break in one of the glow plug wires. When I fixed that and took the truck for a run it started better, ran smoother and the noises have gone away.
I'm guessing that the fuel management system senses chamber temp through the glow plug system resistance and this was all awry due to one of them not being connected.
Is there anyone out there who can confirm this?

The problem may be solved but the mystery remains. The only thing the PCM knows about the glow plugs is whether or not the light on the dash comes on when it should.

And, if the glow plug was the reason it was running loud: the noise should've gone away once the truck was warmed up, anyways - regardless of how any bad plugs there might be.
