We don't really have a good forum for this, so I'll post it here.

My 99 K1500 Silverado is showing the ABS light intermittently. Codes are C0268 and C0267, pump motor shorted and pump motor open. The part is $1550

Anyone have any advise? Anyone have a good used part? (It's the hydraulic modulator in front of the master cylinder) So far in 60K miles it's been 1 ABS control module, The rust belt recall (failed, not just preventive) and now this... :(

John, there is an outfit on ebay selling a repair service for the GM ABS modules. They state there is a relay that operates the pump that was too weak from the factory, and it will weld closed, and the pump will run steady.

Maybe your problem is related to that, and it has not completely failed YET?

Check out item #8034995017 on ebay to see what he has to say about the GM ABS motor/relay problems.

I took a closer look at the auction description, and he mentions your exact trouble codes (as well as others).

Bob:

thanks! I suspect the problem may be with the pump wiring, as mentioned near the bottom of the page (look here) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ABS-Module-Rebuild-GM-GMC-Chevy-Sierra-Silverado-EBCM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33560QQitemZ803499 5017QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) They mention salt. We've got salt like I've never seen before! anyhow, I may be able to correct it myself! Meanwhile, Chevy has indicated they may be willing to help. Stay tuned...
