I am curious what the difference is between the military issue 6.2 and the 6.2 in my 1990 chevy?

They look different to me, but the only engines I'm finding are ex-military replacements. They can't be the same can they? (I already know the voltage is different, but what else is different? Are the blocks and heads the same?

I need an engine or a rebuild and the price is right on the military engines, but I don't want to end up with the wrong engine.

Mine has 430,258 miles and is running out of steam. She won't go faster than 50 mph down hill and up a hill I am lucky to maintain 30 mph. She is old, but she still looks good.

Same basic engine, just some bolt-on differences.

Strip 'er down to longblock and swap on your civilian stuff. You can keep the IP and injectors in the military engine, just swap the injection pump top from your civilian pump onto the military engine.

One other major difference is the Hummer 6.2's will have a different oil pan. This oil pan will not fit the civilan vehicles (that I'm aware of). So you'll need to swap your oil pan from your civilan engine onto the military engine.

Like John said, the Hummer oil pan will not fit. I will gladly buy it from you if you end up purchasing a Hummer engine. It just so happens that it will fit into my chassis and I would love to have the extra oil capacity.
