1996 C2500 HD w/"F" VIN & 5-speed, essentially stock. Truck doesn't start easily - have to crank for around 10 seconds, and have to press part-way on accelerator pedal. Once it's started, have to hold the rpm above 1000 for a few seconds or it'll die. Restarting is no easier. No check engine or service engine lights (they do work), but checking codes gives me these: P0236, P0251, P0370. Clearing codes doesn't change starting, and codes reappear after next start. Also, cruise control doesn't work, which I assume is associated with the codes putting computer in 'limp home' mode. Once it's running, it seems okay, although I suspect not making full power - all the other 6.2/6.5's I've driven were automatics, so I don't have a good basis for comparison. It definitely doesn't like pulling a trailer on hills, but the 3.73 rear end may be at least partly to blame for that.
This condition has existed for the four years and 50K miles that I've owned the truck. During that time, I have replaced OPS, lift pump, glow plugs, fuel filter, fuel filler cap, ignition switch, starter, and battery cables, along with various other pieces that don't seem to have any possible connection to this issue. I realize that it's most likely the injector pump, since there doesn't seem much else left. That said, I'd like to hear what more knowledgeable folks have to say or suggest. Thanks!
