this morning i found a 80's caddilac that is eguiped with a diesel. the old man that ownes it said it ran when he parked it(6 or 7 yrs. ago) he says he doesn't recall what engine it had and i was unable to get the hood open so i don't know for shure, but he said he would let it go for a couple hundred bucks. i looked it over and it was CLEAN. so what do you guys think, and did they come factory with diesels?

If it's an OEM Diesel, it can be a 5.7L(350 CID) or 4.3L. Cadillac used both, depending on model and year. They are good, fun powertrains as long as you care for them properly and don't ask too much of them. Major MPG'ers. They are really good on tire wear, too. I had one years ago, and I know of several still running today.

I still own one wherever it is. It was stolen. It is a 1985 Cadillac, Sedan Deville with a 4.3 liter diesel engine made by Detroit Diesel and it is NOT a gasoline conversion. It was 'factory'. I loved that car.
