The crank in my 6.5 is not repairable as the broken bearing dug too deep a grove. I have a good crankshaft for a 6.5 but am not sure if I can use it for the original engine. The original one is from my 98 Suburban, the replacement one is from an unk year possibly a 93 non turbo. The only diff I see is that the 98 cranks has a 7 embossed on it the replacement has a 8 embossed on it? Can these be interchanged, are there items I must buy to make the crankshaft work in my orig engine? THX!

Compare the oil thru-holes in the main and rod journals in the '93 to the '98 - '93 did not have oil-sprayed pistons, and bored diameters may be smaller.

Simple job to increase diameters - any automotive engine machine shop can handle it.

I thought all the 1 peice rear main cranks were the same......even the 6.2's from 88 or so up.

Could be, grape - that was the only difference, besides balance, that I could imagine
