Working on my 84 GMC 4x4 6.2 with Banks Turbo. Had a fuel problem that caused the filter on the firewall to leak dry overnight. Changed that out to one I had off a 93, 6.5. Bled lines, and ran a while. Got up the next morning, fuel filter was full, but would not crank. I ran the truck about an hour after the filter swap. Could my IP be bad? What am I overlooking?

Also, I updated to the 85 up GP controller, but the light in the dash has quit working. I changed bulbs, but still won't come on. (You can hear the controller 'cycling') Anyone know offhand which wire (engine side) is for the light?

Truck also has new 60Gs and resistor installed, so glow time is 10-11 secs.

Thanks.
Truck has me pulling my hair out sometimes!

Do you smell fuel on the engine when hot?

It's possible that you have a fuel leak somewhere on the engine, there is a lot of rubber lines that can develop leaks due to age. Good hose clamps are a must too, try and replace all the factory spring-clamps that you can, they can't hold the rubber tight enough when it's getting older and more stiff.

For the glow light, I think the earlier systems (82-84) just used a lead off the glow plugs themselves, the light was run off the harness. It's possible that this connection has become severed. Have to separate the harness where the large lead wire (off controller) goes into.

Got a picture your new FM100 filter install (the '93)?

I need to change out one piece of hose from the filter to the pump itself. It had a splice, and I changed to the splice, but want to eliminate and change out whole thing. There is a worm clamp at the pump end, but turned at a bad angle.
No pics yet, but I built a bracket and mounted it on the firewall where the original was. Will try to get some soon.

Will also look into the glow light, as I removed the old wiring, and must have eliminated it.
Have a family problem to deal with, so it may take a day or so to check all this.

Thanks

Changed out the line from filter to IP, now a 1 piece line. Got glow light/relay working right. Seems to be burning alot of fuel, but I think I have a leak that I have yet to find. Can smell fuel, but can not see or find. I am back at work, so a friend is driving trying to locate leak, etc.
Was getting poor mileage before, but only had 2 good quick heats in it. Would crank and run, but smoked when you got on it. New 60Gs and doesn't smoke, so got to be a leak.
It's always something.......
