I am going to buy a code scanner and would like to know which is best to buy.
I am looking at one on Northerntool.com. It is Action CP 9125, AutoXRAY OBDII for $79.00.

Looking at 2 different ones at Harbor Freight, ONe is Cen-tech OBDII/Code Scanner with text display for $89.99. Displays data in plain english, no looking up codes.
2nd one is Cen-Tech with CD software with 7000 trouble codes for $39.99

I have a 1998 Chevy G3500 Van with a 6.5 TD
Fed up with dealers who wont tell you the truth. Just replacement monkeys.
It is out of warranty now and I can't afford their prices. I want to install a remote PMD on it first. It should be fun on a van. Can't get to anything. Even with the dog box off it is tight. Thanks Vaughn

None of the low priced, off the shelf scanners will do everything you need, like TDC offset. Search these forums as it's been discussed before; there are a couple of PC programs that fit the bill. I don't recall the names, though.

CarCode has nice program that lets your set timing/relearn along with other setting adjustments. This program has real time data monitoring that gives some interesting information like to mpg, fuel rate nice for the $$$.
