Isspro makes several Tach's for Diesels, they have their own magnetic pickup, which reads two magnets that you glue to the harmonic balancer.

They're pretty accurate that way. But, inspect the balancer before you devote your magnets to it, cause they are not coming back off after you use the glue that comes in the "kit". If the balancer is suspect, renew it and the front main seal, then continue...

I have a Tiny Tach on mine and works great. It uses a little clamp on the injector line that measures pulses. It also has 2 different hour meters for oil changes(if you want to measure oil life by hours) and total hours. I bought it on good ole' Ebay.
