The 2002 rarely is seen without the 25', 14K bumper pull trailer on - unless its snowing and its pushing around an 8' plow.

Yesterday, a customer needed only a 1500# pallette of steel sent up to a very remote machine shop in northern Wisconsin. We dropped the trailer, and sent the truck off with the skid in the back.

70mph on the interstate, 60mph on the secondary highways yielded a 19.2mpg roundtrip - with nearly a quarter million miles on the clock!

A rare 200 mile trip (400 total) w/o a trailer to fetch 2500lbs of stone tile yeilded 2mpg more when loaded on the return than running empty for the trip on this DMax. Strange, did the aerodynamics change for the better when loaded or what?

In my world, more weight usually equals less mileage. An additional 2500# on the way home would almost certainly come with a cost.

Anythings possible...was the first 200 mile segment up into the mountains, or against the wind? Maybe the first 200 cleaned up a couple of partially plugged injectors from too much in-town driving...was the first segment up into the mountains, or against the wind?

Lots of variables to mileage.
