Truck shut down on the way to work. Tried to restart with no success (did crank OK). Found ENG1 fuse blown. Replaced fuse and it fired up. Tried to find an obvious fault in the harnesses to no avail. It has blown once more, but again is fine after changing it. Some time after this problem surfaced I got a P0216 code indicating injector timing issue. Since the general consensus seems to be stepper motors don't usually go bad, they have wiring faults, is there any chance the stepper motor is on a circuit fed by ENG1? I know the stepper motor itself has four leads connecting it to the PCM so I would imagine if one of those leads shorted then the PCM fuse would blow. Does this sound right? The truck otherwise is running great. I cleared the P0216 code and it hasn't returned thus far.
