Check Engine Light

Is there a FAQ or a thread that lists all of the things that might cause the "Check" light to come on on my '92 Rally van?

I've been searching with no luck.

The light is on most of the time.

Diagnostic troubleshooting steps can be found HERE (http://www.thedieselpage.com/members/guide.htm), but probably not necessary. The SES is probably caused by an EGR failure or loss of vacuum (which will cause EGR failure). Check for vacuum at the pump (with engine running) and vacuum lines for breaks/leaks. The 1992 OBD system is very basic, and was only for EPA purposes. Could also be caused by an malfunctioning TCC, but unlikely. You should have noticed poor shifting/driving qualities with no torque converter lockup.

Yes, it is "Service Engine Soon" light, not check engine.
