If I had the extra cash, I'd buy this truck just for the drivetrain up to 8K. If anyone on here is like-minded, I'll pay $1,200 for the complete rearend, leaf springs and shackles. You could part out the interior, doors, etc - junk the frame and body, and own an LB7 engine AND transmission for about 4K...

The key to finding a good deal on a salvage vehicle is knowing someone licensed to buy at insurance auctions. :) You should be able to buy a newer - low mile truck for what the eBay truck sold for.
